Opening Scene:
SETTING:
A geodesic dome sits on the stage. It is night, in the forest. Trees, stars, moon.
The dome is lit like a big paper lantern. Glowing. Above it, and around it in the sky are similar geodesic dome-like lanterns in the sky. Like stars. But more UFO like (?). We know not what they are…but they look similar to the dome on the earth. They light up one by one. They fly between and around each other and then disappear.
Then the geodesic dome on the earth (on the stage) turns around, rotating to the “open part”(to the audience) revealing a woman sitting on a bed.
FIRST SCENE
This woman, Artemus, in her late 40’s early 50’s– is creating a ceremony. She has candles and artifacts from nature, and is burning sage. She arranges the items and talks out loud while doing so. She brings in the four directions. She talks about what she is seeking to find in her dreams and in her life. And, then she goes to bed.
In a music interlude, we go from real life to dream life. (This will happen throughout the play.)
“Dream space” is outside the geodesic dome. It is a multi-dimensional space. Anything anytime, anyplace. In this place there could be holographics, and projections. It can turn into any setting.
SECOND SCENE
Location— the dreamspace; which turns into a cave.
In her dream, Artemus is about to enter a cave. She goes in and finds the FIRST vase, in the first cave, and receives the message,
“God Eternal is within the body.”
This becomes her quest. What does this message mean? And, why her…now? Where did the message come from?
THIRD SCENE
Enter the Antagonist–a man, Orrey, in his late 40s early 50s. He is in his apartment bedroom in the city and is getting ready for a night on the town. We learn he is recently divorced and “dating again.” He plays music and gets himself psyched for his new found freedom with a new woman, or women.
FOURTH SCENE
Artemus leaves dreamscape and returns to the DOME, out of her dream and back into her bed. and we watch her rise from sleep. There is a call on her cell. She answers. It is her agent. They have a conversation about the book she is writing. About the Divine Feminine. She is given some directions for what she needs to do next for the research of her book. An exotic journey. Something quite out of the ordinary. Something scary and exciting.
She has to leave her mountain sanctuary now and go to the city to prepare for her flight.
FIFTH SCENE
Orrey is in his office downtown. We watch him go through the grind of the daily cubicle life. When it’s all said and done, we can see his frustration with the way things are. But, not his commitment to do anything to change it. Instead, he is ready to go to the nearest bar to drown those feelings.
SIXTH SCENE
The first meeting of the protagonist and antagonist. The question is: are they going to remain adversaries or share the protagonist role and battle other forces together? That decision and conflict is what this musical is about.
Artemus and Orrey are walking down two different streets headed to the same outdoor cafe. Here they meet. And, they begin the conversation that turns everything on its head. Eventually, through the raised vibration of their conversation, they go to the dreamscape together…and take a journey together there.
But she is further along on this journey than he is. She understands that she, being a woman is also embodying the Divine Feminine, if she chooses. She must learn on HER journey to accept this role. And, she must teach the MAN. He must learn to be a MAN by learning from the WOMAN. He then can USHER her into the NEW STORY that they are creating together,
Artemus finds that her departed Mother, Bella, becomes a guide and an anchor for growth through forgiveness.
Orrey finds that various heroes from ancient myths and including “religious figures” bring a model for him to follow.

More important info:
The Problem of the play is: Humans are in a story between stories. What will we choose? Individually and/or as a collective? Our old narrative is crumbling, and systems are collapsing. What new narrative will be the compelling story to attract us to our destiny?
PLOT: Two characters, man and woman set off to write the “NEW STORY FOR HUMANITY” What makes this “different” from the typical “heros’ journey” elucidated by Joseph Campbell, and from which basically all Hollywood movies use the template, is the fact that the participants, the “heros” are conscious, and transparent about the steps on the heroes path. And, when they recognize that they are at one of the “predictable steps” on the heroes journey they, “course correct” something about it, to “change” the narrative–to the new story.
THE Overall CONFLICT that both protagonists share is the Battle of letting go of the ego’s control and letting Divine mystery be the flow.
The THEME : Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine in balance create harmony and flow to a new dimension of life on earth.
The Woman’s journey is about encountering various feminine archetypes, working with them and finally embracing them so that she can contain the power that they hold and use at will.
The Man’s journey is letting go of the “MACHINE” mentality. And, finding his power through embracing Divine feminine attributes that enable a new way of being, with others and with a significant other/partner.
The tests and trials, allies and enemies (taken from Campbell’s lexicon):
What could make us choose transhumanism? Convenience, promises, efficiency, mandates, novelty, excitement, first to adopt, social capital.
What could make us choose Pure Human? Sovereignty, Emotional integrity, Self-determination; the choice regarding transformational union with the Divine. A clear understanding of our purpose on earth as humans created for that purpose.
Why THE MUSICAL?
The musical is the chosen format for this tale because it allows for the drama and pathos of humans’ attraction to sound and movement. The soundtrack to this will be World Music. There should be influences from every culture. Ancient sounds and modern ones. The dance sequences will highlight the healing movement from Ancient practices of Tai chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, and Modern dance or ethnic or tribal movement. Drumming.
DERIVED THEATRE
Chatgpt def:
Derived theatre is a collaborative performance practice in which the content of a theatrical production is generated collectively by the ensemble, rather than originating from a single authored script.
Rooted in improvisation, physical exploration, and group discussion, this method emphasizes process over product and often engages with contemporary social, political, or cultural themes.
Derived theatre challenges traditional hierarchies within theatrical production, fostering a democratic and inclusive approach to authorship and storytelling.
In the case of this production —The Epic Musical…of our Time, some of the content will be derived from at least 10 different community gatherings.
Prototypes and “Market Tests?”
To facilitate and grow an interest in the culture for this topic and for both the Sophia Field and The EPIC musical, over the next 2 years of development, we will produce podcasts, Short scenes and songs on social media platforms: Instagram, Twitter, and Tic Toc, is that still around? :) from 1 min. To 15 min. Tops.
Early Adopters
The success of this venture depends upon a handful of early adopters who see the value and want to commit to the long haul.
There will be a need to identify specific roles and tasks that could be undertaken by the community that is being built.
Sophia’s Field—a community gathering to derive content for the musical.
Upcoming community gatherings will take place this summer in Boston, in State College PA in the Fall, in Berkeley Springs and Albuqurque in Nov. and Prescott Az in Dec.
Within a community of like-minded individuals from various locations, and settings, groups will meet for discussions about the birthing of the new earth. The format will be derived from some successful community thought gathering techniques recommended in the Spud Marshall’s book, “Designing Creative Communities,” and also from The World Cafe model.
Some questions for Sophia’s Field gatherings:
Why are we here?
Where did we come from?
Where do we go when we die?
What do I need to live a better life?
What is the “new” human?
Some topics include:
AI—the technocracy
Gender
What’s needed to take exquisite care of the human : The 7 Sacred Stones and other methodology
Physics(Science) and Spirituality
Sexuality
Concepts and discoveries from Gregg Braden’s book Pure Human
Other authors as brought to the table by project participants
What does the “new” model of the new earth look like that makes the old model obsolete?
There you have it folks. The beginning of the beginning of the Epic Musical.
I invite your participation.
Questions?
Thoughts? Wanna host a Sophia’s Field?
Do you write music?
How might you join in?
You know, in the end…
It’s up to us.
Surely it's past time to put this "Divine Feminine" vs "Toxic Masculine" trope in the garbage bin where it belongs. Please.
